I must be one of the few people who never saw the Royal Wedding as (fortunately) a friend and I were travelling to Norway by train that day.

And missed the street parties?

Was the first time I ever got drunk and threw up.

At some point in the evening the adults suddenly dissappeard for a few minutes from the tables full of alcohol and buffet at our part of the Chalkstone Estates party leaving a lot of sh1te spirits ( mainly vodka) unattended that me and a few other 10 year olds thought we would indulge in by making litres of vodka and orange juice..

Was so scarred couldn't drink orange juice again til I was in my early 20,s

Me neither. Spent the day in Great Yarmouth. Always thought that Charlie Boy was a wrong ‘un.

Better to stay silent and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt

Well, England won the world cup on 30July 1966, but that’s not 45 years ago, so it can’t be that.

Me and my eldest were walking up Skiddaw. Quite a few had the same idea too.
