On a more general note, I am interrailing at the moment and passed the through Cologne hauptbahnhof a couple of days ago and it was heaving. Hamburg that night and the following morning was even worse. Expect delays and overcrowding on Deutsche Bahn at the moment. |  |

The Deutschlandticket has a lot to answer for.
€63 a month for unlimited travel throughout Germany on all public transport, except for InterCity/InterCityExpress trains.
Fantastic in terms of making public transport affordable for everyone, but not so great from a capacity point of view. [Post edited 4 Aug 17:22]

As well as the Deutsche Bahn woes I think I should point out that the current forecast for the afternoon of Saturday 15th is a bit on the warm side, think I will stay in Scandinavia for a bit longer. | |

It really doesn’t. What an amazing concept - if only we hadn’t sold our transport systems to the highest bidders in the 80s. Used this several time before and will again later this year. Seriously have you ever tired commuting to London to work? It’s no worse and far easier. | | | |

It's a fantastic concept, but the system capacity isn't there for it.
On balance it's definitely a good thing, but the trade-off is massively overcrowded trains. | |

Generally expect details delays, cancellation & overcrowding on DB all the time. It's a hot mess. |  |
