| So far, we are the 4th highest spenders this window. 20:14 - Aug 11 with 1281 views | MK1 | Newly promoted Ipswich Town have quietly been the Premier League's fourth-biggest net spenders so far this summer, behind only Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal. Ten players have joined for a combined £106.6m, but what is most notable about the Tractor Boys' approach under new manager Gary O'Neil is the sea change in recruitment strategy, shaped by lessons learned from their chastening single season in the top flight in 2024-25. | |

I thought it was quite a poor piece of journalism, lacked some context and the suggestion that we've completed changed transfer tack isnt what they make it out to be. Madea, Lukic, Luis, Fatawu all have plenty of experience of British, Madea apart, English football so I don't think its the departure they make it out to be, more evolution. Previously we had to build a team to try and compete on the back of a spine pulled together in L1, needed players that would be able to take as back up and not need another overhaul, this time its adding PL experience alongside value where we can find it in other markets as were in a position to be braver as MA puts it. Mckenna certainly liked young, techicnal Britsih players, ideally comming from well coached academies, players he thought were coachable I suppose, thats the real change but again, with where are in our recent journey I think thats natural progression for a club now trying to bridge the gap and avoid being a yoyo club

Exactly, a lot of the other PL teams have the bulk of their squad there already. The newly promoted teams have get the wallet out quite seriously if they want a chance of survival.
