Happy days for him. You could argue that it was a relatively cheap punt for Man City too, given their unlimited wealth and no rules applying to them.
I’d be interested to know how much if his salary we paid. My guess is as a Premier League club, all of it for that season. Utter waste of money.

Man City's accountant must wince every time that wage comes out.
We wouldn't have been paying him £150k a week, he'd just come off that absolutely awful loan spell with West Ham.

It wouldn’t surprise if we did pay the lot. As a Premier League club desperate for a midfielder why wouldn’t we? A £7.8m gamble? With the gift of hindsight, it looks a stupid bit of recruitment, but I guess it might have paid off.

That is plausible money-wise.
Yes, it didn't work out - but I think that is partially down to bad luck. He was beginning to look good at the point he was sent off against Leicester and then out injured, and never got back close to that when he returned. | | | |
