| Chris Kiwomya returning in 1997? 17:02 - Aug 14 with 1747 views | ITFC_Essex | I was going through a lot of my old Town things and one thing I found was a Simon Milton testimonial magazine. I that there's a comment from Milton about it being a shame that Kiwomya's return fell through the year before but wished him all the best with his current loan. I never heard of this at the time, I would have been about 11-12 years old, and having watched Ipswich since I was very small, Kiwomya was a bit of a God-to me, so I would have been beyond excited if that move had happened at the time, as I was when Jason Dozzell also made his return in 1997. Does anyone else remember that? Also, I can remember Ipswich playing a full strength West Ham team for Milts testimonial, but I can't recall who played for us beyond the obvious. I have just checked Pride of Anglia and they don't even have the team sheet, but I seem to remember Dozzell, Wark and even Burley playing at stages, am I right? Milton retired not long after that, and it was the middle of the regular season-time. | |

I'd like to know the 11+ guys that played for Town that night as I was young and have no recollection of it! I never knew anyone to hate Simon Milton though. No data here: https://prideofanglia.com/page

Who is Oh? Don’t remember us having a Korean player. Was he related to Sandra?

I remember both sides being pretty full strength, Forest being there was a bit awkward as we'd screwed him out of a move to Chelsea just the year before, but I do remember Wark and Burley even turning out for us on the night, and maybe a couple more.

Paul Mason was only with us 6 or 7 years, why would he have a testimonial? I don't remember that at all. Usually its 10 years from debut for a testimonial.

| Chris Kiwomya returning in 1997? on 08:33 - Aug 20 with 204 views | Radlett_blue | Milton's testimonial was in April 1998. Kiwomya's Arsenal contract ended that year - he joined QPR on a free transfer - & it wouldn't have been surprising if there had been discussions about bringing him back to Town as he had dropped completely out of the picture at Highbury. He did at least return to Town for 3 years in a coaching capacity, where by all accounts he was considered a success, until he left a few months after Jewell arrived. | |
