Derry Brownson RIP 16:59 - Aug 16 with 860 viewsBlueBadger

Founder member of EMF. The lunatic on the keys who was a vital element of their sound.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Ah that's a shame, I loved EMF back in the day.

This one, a hidden track on the first album, was a lot of fun...

Thought they were just a blatant Jesus Jones rip-off

First I heard of them they were in the national charts, jumping on the Jesus Jones bandwagon

Jesus Jones put in the hard work and released an album before getting chart success - that's how I saw it anyway

Both bands came from not far from each other - JJ from Wiltshire and EMF from Gloucestershire

Most of the band were in the year above my wife at sixth form college, as a proud Forester she'll be devastated.

EMF made no secret of the Jesus Jones connection, they used to follow them around in the early days and were apparently their inspiration.

I personally thought EMF were musically better, their second non commercial album which bombed is actually pretty good...

On the same day, by strange coincidence the excellent Rewind TV programme Stereo Underground played EMF's collaboration with Stephen Fry from 2023 which was the first time I'd seen a much older looking EMF.

FFS, show a little respect. You’re like Children on here.

Sorry, too easy . Anyhow, RIP. It’s starting to get really depressing losing people who I still remember as young.

Poll: Escaped Goat of the day. Who’s it going to be?

That sounds very, very similar to "Children".
