I know most have their settled pre and post match routines, but thought I'd give a bit of a plug to the Church (AKA St Stephens Church, previously the tourist info centre) and a new set up for Saturday home games.
This week you'll have Joe (AKA stjohnsblue) and me playing a selection of fine music from various genres (probably rooted in alt/indie/funk/soul) to accompany your beer and chit chat. I might even play The Liquidator.
It's open from midday until 10pm. If you've not been in before it is a lovely venue, with good beer, and award winning toilets(!).
Come and say hello, or alternatively take this as the steer to actively avoid me, up to you really!
I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.
Pre and Post match beer and music on Saturday - Join me! on 16:48 - Aug 20 by Dubtractor
Various Adnams beers on tap, plus a variety of craft beers in the fridge.
Joe has more of the details on what's behind the bar though!
Then I'll come along and find out. Because I accidently bought a train ticket that gets ina few hours than I'd planned, and the person I was going meet pregame is now not going so this seems like a great alternative. Thanks.
Are we going to signing photos like nightclub PAs in the 90s? I think I still have one from Home and Away's 'Shannon' / Isla Fisher from about 1998. Still one of the best moments of my life. haha.
I think DJ set times are - Dubs is on 6:30-8 and I'm filling around the star attraction - so pre-match, 12-2pm (to give time to queue for ages to get in the west stand). Post-match 5:30-6 and then after Dubs till close. I'll play some good stuff and some questionable stuff for sure. From New Order, Happy Mondays, Pavement, Foals, De La Soul to my most recent record purchase Live is Life by Opus (which will be first on when I get back there after the full time whistle). Winner.
Beer is good. Cruzcampo/Bitburger for a stand up larger beer through to a good selection of Adnams & Aspall on tap. We usually have a guest beer on too...no idea what it is. Fancy cans (à la Hopsters) behind the bar and decent wine too.
It's a lovely family friendly atmosphere, good music, booze and you can bring your own food in. Wagamama is over the road and Mylos Pizza deliver for no extra charge.
