| Who misses out tomorrow then? on 15:01 - Aug 21 with 666 views | Ralphinho | Even after the preseason matches, are we nailed on that Dara is going to be playing as a RB this season then? Seems strange to put arguably our best CB (and captain) out of position. I suppose shifting to 3 atb when Leif goes surging forwards. Does it leave us a little one sided? That being said - I'm not GON and in GON we trust. | |

Wasn't given a squad number, so looks like the focus is on finding him a new club rather than being involved

When you look at the squad in terms of matchday numbers, it's pretty brutal; I'd trust any of those players to do a job for us if selected.

Yeah I'm sure he'll do a decent job there but I'm a bit disappointed / surprised we haven't secured a first choice RB yet.

My thoughts. If there are slight concerns over Fatawu and Florentino and because it's a home game, we 'might' see Emersonn Maeda Clarke Egeli Nunez Lukic Davis Greaves Diop O'Shea van Oevelen I think Nunez because we're at home and Florentino can then come on for either of those two if needed. Ideally would want both as protectors against Xhaka, Le Fee and Sadiki, but we might need to be a bit braver. With Fatawu having had a small issue, we might see Egeli on the right, which in turn with Enciso only recently joining, might mean Clarke gets the 10 to start (against his old club too). Maeda now has Philogene. I think that spreads the load a little and keeps some flexibility. Ouatarra i'm sure is involved, so pleased to hear O'Neil say he has a specific position in mind for him and said "the lads have been surprised by him" but I can't tell where that might be. Could well be in the middle, but not a starter. The fact we've not let van Oevelen go makes me think heavily. Against Sunderland, someone who's quick off his line and good with his feet? Maybe...just maybe. My first choice for reference though (can't make up mind as to whether Egeli starts) Emersonn Maeda Enciso Fatawu Florentino Lukic Davis Greaves Diop O'Shea Scherpen
| Who misses out tomorrow then? on 18:32 - Aug 21 with 85 views | unstableblue | Joe I asked the same thing yesterday. But my view was Walton would be the keeper, interesting you’ve gone with the younger Dutch stopper. As for the bench, I’d settle on this now: Walton Furlong Kipre Ouatarra Nunez Egeli Philogene Akpom McAteer But is Jack Clarke - who’s been prominent in pre season - going to miss out? McAteer could make way for him. And harsh on Mehemti to not make it. Showing the strength in our squad. And when Matusiwa is fit and 2-3 quality signings come in, it’ll be even more competitive! Judging by GON’s comments Ouatarra can be seen as covering midfield, full backs, hey even right side attack. Think we’re all agreeing on the starting 11 Saturday - but what of the bench? by unstableblue 20 Aug 23:19We assume Fatawu and Florentino will be fit / a precautionary rest in Berlin. And that Matusiwa and Taylor won’t be available.
So team will be
—————Scherpen
OShea—-Diop—Greaves—Davis
———Florentino—Lukic
—- Fatawu—-Enciso—Maeda
———————Emersonn
(Egeli and Enciso may swap a starting/bench spot)
So who’s the expected 9 on the bench::
Walton
Furlong
Kipre
Ouattara
Nunez
Egeli
Mehmeti
Clarke
Philogene
Akpom
Hmmmmm - that’s 10! Who does he drop? I’d thought Johnson might get a shout due to being so versatile (as a right wing/ both sided full back) but as pointed out seems he’s being shipped out on loan. McAteer also brings a nice option for the right side and real energy. Maybe Philogene or Clarke to drop out?
It’s tough to work out the subs - which will get tougher when Matusiwa and Taylor (the latter may leave) return and 2-3 more players arrive. But a good problem and the bench is way stronger this Prem campaign. The likes of Akpom, Nunez, Mehmeti may not make the bench regularly (£7m + £7.5m + £3m of fees).
