We've got more improvement left in us than most teams. 18:30 - Aug 22 with 841 viewsNthQldITFC

We're integrating a bigger number of players (and more to come) and we have a new manager.

We also have an excellent looking team spirit already developing. Enciso looks to be a magical signing, both in term of his ability and also his galvanising positivity. Leif (of course) and Emersonn also igniting the team spirit thing already.

I've probably said this already, and I'm a little pissed, so excuse if I repeat.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

If we get Palacios and Embolo genuinely think we will finish somewhere between 14-16th.

Not that I'm getting giddy or anything.

Poll: What rating out of 10 do you give to Ipswichs season up to this point?

That is my main takeaway. Very good individual performances but often disjointed and not cohesive as a team, with a few moments of exception. Which is fine, they only met each other last week. That will grow, I hope, and there are some gears more to go through.

Which is good, as we will face harder teams than Sunderland - who I worry for. They *should* have that cohesiveness as they are the same squad as last year, basically, but I suspect that they may not have the same room for improvement. So, while we kind of matched each other for the game, hopefully we can grow, as you say. And if we stay above Sunderland we have a chance.

Pissed and a win - what more do you want from a Saturday?

The Ipswich in me wants to not get too excited, but we looked very competitive against a team that finished 7th. I didn’t think they looked great tbh but thoroughly enjoyed that. Encsico will go for big money, Diop was a beast, and couldn’t be more happy that JC got the winner against his old club (some Sunderland fans I know weren’t happy how he celebrated!).

Anyway COYFB.

Fixtures had been somewhat kind. Cov playing Arisnal away first game is Brutal. Hull looked incredibly hard until Utd reverted to form.

They didn’t look very good at all imo. We had a few shaky moments as well. I’m not sure how Sunderland failed to make more of the space we gave them around our box especially in the first half. We also didn’t look close to scoring after the subs until their bad mistake (still have to score of course and it was a great finish).

I’m sure GON will have seen there’s work to be done, but it’s very promising. We seem better individually this time round, so that should give us a good platform if we’re winning more battles and able to protect the ball better. Just need to join things up a bit and I’m sure that will come as the players get used to each other.

Oh, and we need a good right back.

It certainly didn’t look like men v boys today, and I was kind of apprehensive of the virtually new squad. TBH GON has made a mockery of the ‘gelling’ thing.

I agree lots of things we can do better, happy to concede possession if we look solid. But GON set up how I THOUGHT we should approach the PL. it’s hard to judge after one game isn’t it, but certainly a better result than I espected (that’s the Ipswich in me). We SEEM to have some canny pro’s in Diop and Lucic, with some exciting players in Ensisco and Meada.

Anyway throughly enjoyed today at PR, great atmosphere and even SAR was pretty noisy!
