| DOS appreciation 11:28 - Aug 23 with 606 views | Garv | We know he's not a right back, and he got done once or twice and had a few iffy touches, but if you watched the last 10 minutes back you'd think he was MOTM. The headed clearance followed by the block with his head straight afterwards during stoppage time summed him up. | |

He's not a natural right back but GON has said that he has the attributes needed for a Prem team nowadays and I can see why having him in at RB allows Diop to play alongside Greaves. With Davis bombing forward, that leaves a really good back three of Diop, Greaves and Dara - so the logic is sound.

I thought a few of the players were playing it safe in that 1st half, ie I'll play it short rather a long over the top pass incase it goes wrong. In DOS case it was, I'll stay within my RB position and wont venture out of it - Which was totally natural. Our goal gave us confidence and obviously at HT GON said something, changed something, but players like Fatawu, Nunez stated expressing themselves more. DOS started to move outside his RB zone and tried other things Same with Leif who was very much in his LB zone 1st, a few runs forward 2nd half, with GON waving at him to get forward more. Not sure in that was the players making their own decision to play it safe in 1st half or GONs game plan.

It wasn't his lack of going forwards I had an issue with, in the first half his speed wasn't there, he was getting turned easily and was playing catch up a fair bit, I think it was more to do with his stance tbh, he seemed quicker in the second half getting across the and back down the pitch.
