When I was in Hospital I got talking to a chap in the opposite bed and he was telling me he was a Lego collector.

So much so he’s had a loft conversion done on his house and has all his Lego collection up there.

I am thinking of buying a fairly decent Lego Technic kit, maybe a big old Truck or F1 car.

I am not allowed to do any gardening for 3 -6 months,i can do light pruning after 1 month, not until my Sternum has heeled and it’s driving me nuts. But a lot of my garden I can cut back in March.

Thankfully I can walk and spend a fair time mooching around the village green, but you can’t walk forever can you!

Does anyone on here have any kits ?

That's the very definition of hunching over a table!

Are you artistic? Painting at a big easel, set at close to eye level, standing up, would help you keep good posture. Acrylic paint is a very good starting medium, cheaper and much more forgiving than oils!

You could put the word out and see if someone in the village could lend you an easel for the six months as you recover?

No I’m crap at painting Models and scenery I’m ok with though.

Not really but Lego is great, nicely challenging to make the more complicated stuff but suitable for all ages at some level. Last time my brother and I were both at our parents we had the old Lego stuff from our childhood out with nieces and nephews loving it.

Have you done jigsaws recently? They can be another good time-filler with a bit of purpose. A bit cheaper than loads of Lego too.

What did you do wrong?

Went out with my son to look at a job, he was driving and went over a railway crossing it didn't do the scar tissue much good a blister formed and ended up back in Papworth with an infection.
As an edit this was 5 weeks after leaving hospital, was feeling over confident.

I had a Technical Lego tractor when I was a child. Used to use the motor and wheels to make fearsome dragster cars which would zoom down the landing and crash into doors and skirting boards.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Hmmm it’s easily done buh.

I’ve had my orders on what I can and can’t do,and I will do my best to conform!

But I understand how it’s easy to be to confident and just go for it.

Is that how you become to be a painter and decorator?

I started doing the Lego Icons thing a few years ago when my mental heath went to shit.
Still do them, although running out of space now.

Keeps my mind occupied for a few hours.

How about a small scale railway layout? Loads of options for building scenery and making/painting stuff without having to properly paint/draw. You can get ones that are half the size or less than Hornby. You wouldn’t need much space and there must be loads of stuff on eBay. A bit more involved though, which could go either way into either addiction or boredom and not finishing it.

As an alternative to Lego I keep getting emails from this place for CaDA kits. I don’t know what they’re like though.
