The problem Delap had at Chelsea (which is also a problem that Enciso had at Brighton) is that with mostly 10-15 mins off the bench, he tried to hard to make an impression - regardless of what that impression was.
Now they both are in teams that want them as a focal point, give them confidence, and give them time, rather than treating them like a back up option and an accounting ploy. |  | | |

I think Delap will totally suit Forest's style of play. He finally looks at ease, and happy again.
Chelsea ( basket case of a club) was the worst club he could have gone to in my view. The ultra egos there didnt seem to accept him, rarely passed the ball to him and he looked totally out of all the games I watched him play... now at Forest, the complete opposite is true. He's playing with freedom and further up the pitch then he was able to do with us. He will score goals for Forest this season, of that I have no doubt. Good luck to him. |  |

He wasn't enough of a finished article to be the main man at Chelsea, and clubs like Chelsea aren't going to have the patience to stick with anyone who isn't the finished article. I guess players have to back themselves, but this keeps on happening...still, Chelsea did nicely out of it, and Delap got a year's megabucks, though almost certainly at the expense of playing at a World Cup. Hope it was worth it... But yep, good luck to him now. | | | |

Still don't think Delap will make it as a top Prem striker. His game yesterday was typical. Worldie from 25-30 yards, but he missed a much easier headed chance. His goals are mostly low-percentage, meaning most won't go in. Look great when they do, but he must annoy his team-mates by taking them on so often instead of passing. |  | | |

Hard agree. He needs to be a bigger fish in a slightly smaller pond. He’s a very good player. Whether he can step it up to international level is another matter, but he’s got the qualities needed for the PL. I’d have been more than happy to see him back here but the reality is he could get a less risky club than us. |  |

I think he'll do well at Forest because his style, suits their current style. Hell get the sort of goals he scored this weekend. That's his signature really, but I dont think he has enough about his game to be Kane's ultimate replacement. I appreciate hes still relatively young, and will probably improve some of his skills. But theres much more required to make that step up to being a top PL / International striker, than banging it in from 25/30 yards. But its going to be interesting watching him this season at Forest, for sure. | |

Very much this.
Anyone who didn’t want him here is mad. He is a very good striker and although I’m very pleased with Emerson and Fleming I would have taken Delap in a heartbeat over either of them.
Had injuries problems and Chelsea was just the wrong club for him but he is a hugely talented striker and if he stays injury free he is going to score plenty of goals for Forest. |  |
