The more I think about it, the more significant I think this result is. Now when we’re down a goal going into the last few minutes, we know we can turn it around at this level. Such a boost to long term confidence.

Maybe just as significantly, the psychological effect on Fulham is huge. To be honest I think it’s likely they’ll pull themselves out, but if they don’t, I think this result will have played a significant part.

Talking of psychologically damaged teams, bring on Citeh…..

The moment I think may prove to be the most significant was Ensico choosing to pass to Emersonn against Sunderland, rather than shooting himself.

If he’d shot (and missed) we might well have lost the game, Emersonn wouldn’t have broken his duck in the first game and we could have been waiting for some time for that first win.

As it was Ensico got an assist and the plaudits for not being selfish, Emersonn got a goal which was harder than it first appeared, we got the win (obviously thanks also to Jack Clarke) and we started the season out of the bottom three and off and running.

The significance for me is that we've followed a long break with a win, picking up the momentum again. Continuing to play more and more like a cohesive team (there was some lovely, quick passing interplay at times). That we kept going right to the end, scoring late goals to snatch a win from the jaws of defeat (albeit not that tightly clenched).

Edit: Most of all, that Ipswich Town look like they belong in this division.

Hard to understate how important that was. We’ll likely get pumped by Sham City next week so vital to get 3 points today. And another late winner. Good teams find a way to do that.

It already feels like there is going to be a relegation mini-league of us, Hull, Coventry, Fulham, Sunderland, Palace, Spurs, plus perhaps Bournemouth. We have a 100% record against that cohort so far.

In the same mini-league from 24/25 (us, Southampton, Leicester, Spurs, Man Utd, Wolves, West Ham), we won 9 points in total.

Forest at home in a couple of weeks will be really interesting. First team we play at home who shouldn't be part of the relegation dogfight but also not one of the best teams in the league.

Feels important doesn't it.

I was listening to Brenner on my transister and 1 minute before our first goal was musing that we'd lost this one, would likely lose against City - what woukd that do for our confidence

I need t have worried!

It changes a lot of conversations. Fulham, bad start to the season, fancied to be down there and are winless, losing 1-0 at home would have changed the mood and perhaps projection of the season for both.

It would have been two defeats in a row without scoring a goal, Fulham would have been a point behind us and everyone would have seen the result as the league beginning to sort itself out.

Very early but a BIG win.

Sunderland have got injuries and have only played one European game, Bournemouth have had a bad start to the season, both to play each other next week, interesting one. Also Fulham v Hull, can’t really be a bad result in that for us.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?
