| Time to step up Burnham and the eu 13:45 - Oct 14 with 1192 views | redrickstuhaart | Trump now actively funding russias war effort and actively blocking, via Musk, Ukraine's capability to defend itself from attack on civilians and infrastructure. The US is not an ally and it is time to say and act as such. | |

| Time to step up Burnham and the eu on 16:09 - Oct 14 with 1037 views | LegendofthePhoenix | I've said it before - we have US air bases on our soil. We have to ask why. They are no longer an ally. As an aside - I watched the movie Pressure at the weekend. The collaboration between UK and US was seemingly unbreakable. The sacrifices made by both of us were immense. Thousands of young men on the landing boats for D Day that were running into almost certain death, being gunned down as soon as the boat doors were lowered. We (and I mean our grandfathers and great uncles) gave everything to fight against fascism. Trump has just betrayed everyone who fought for these freedoms. He couldn't care less about democracy, freedom and morality. All he is interested in is where he can do another deal to make himself richer. The mid terms should be a barometer of whether the American people still believe in and want this disgraceful excuse for a human being to be their leader. If they do, we really need to rethink our relationship and whether we want their military on our island, because they are not defending the things we want to defend. | |

This, of course, is what is wrong with this country and the US. That level of vitriol? For what exactly? What are you claiming is a lie?

Telling the people of Makesfield he wouldn’t back track on Brexit for a start. Said he wasn’t interested. Lied about that one didn’t he to get a foot up as an MP. Then walks right over those words. Sticks his nose in over Man City as well. Now turns out he was cozing up to their Owners having meals out with them and tickets to games. No wonder he hopes they don’t sell up. All politicians are in it for themselves no matter what party, they don’t give a damn about you or me mate. [Post edited 14 Oct 19:05]

He still wants to. He just can’t that’s why it won’t happen this parliament. He said he wasn’t interested to those in Makesfield, most knew at the time he was only using them to get a foot up.

So he didn't lie then. He didnt want to rake that up and has no intention of reversing brexit on the current mandate. If he had said "I will not under any circumstances, even in a future parliament, reconsider brexit, even if it is obviously a good idea" AND you could prove that he had believed otherwise, rather than subsequently changing his mind, you might have a point. He didn't and your vitriol is really disgusting.

Maybe as PM he has access to more information and concluded that the UK should form closer links with the EU. Changing your opinion when new evidence comes to light is actually quite grown-up. The alternative is staying blinkered regardless of what the evidence clearly states. He was mayor of Manchester. Man City is important for the area, obviously he needed to form a good working relationship with their owners. Hospitality like meals with influential people is how things get done. Your last couple of sentences is just nonsense. Not all politicians are the same -ridiculous. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Your first post seemed incredibly angry about something you're now saying he only 'wants to'. Is your bile more of a tribal than a policy thing? Do you sense the end of something you hoped for for some reason? Are you actually someone who genuinely thinks Brexit was a good thing even now? [Post edited 14 Oct 19:48]
