Find it relatively interesting to check in and how some of these lot are getting on. Not many players that were here a while under McKenna have been too successful after leaving really! Just saying he is not a championship striker, but a good league one player. Just my opinion, that's his "level". Sorry if that upsets you. |
Don't worry, it doesn't upset me. It's just that the player in question has appeared in 2.5x as many matches at Championship level or above as they have in League One, and also scored more goals at Championship level or above than they have in League One. So whilst you're of course entitled to an opinion, I'm just highlighting what a load of nonsense it is.

George Hirst was almost perfect in his role whilst here - the PL was a step too far but there’s absolutely no shame in that. I think that KM used Hirst in such a way that his abilities were totally utilised - but, I’m not sure that in any other system Hirst will be able to cement himself as tha main striker within the context of a higher end Championship side.

In the McKenna Prem season there was quite the correlation between Johnson playing RM and Ipswich getting points. He is a very tidy footballer. It's sad what has happened to Hirst. Every time he took two steps forward he would get a serious enough injury to knock him three steps back. [Post edited 26 Oct 20:15]

That's perfectly fair - and indeed his only full Championship season that wasn't with us was with a club at the lower end. But there's a lot more nuance and balance to how you've put it than someone just saying he's not a Championship-standard player when he's spent more of his career at that level or above than at any other level, which just comes off as the same type of blinkered flak the poster in question constantly aimed at Kayden Jackson.
