Microsoft office help please 11:40 - Nov 27 with 1861 viewsBluefish

Looking to buy a new laptop today and need some help. You seem to need to add Microsoft office to it and many only seem valid for 1 year. Alternatively I can buy a proper version with it for 70 quid. Is this the best way?? In the past I have just bought office through work for about 15 quid but I have since changed jobs

I am not looking to buy a Mac before anyone helpfully suggests it

Office one off license for £70
or £59.99/year for Office 365

If you have the £70 option, i'd do that, unless you need the online storgage etc offered

*I'm NOT advocating the use of "shared resource" available copies of office btw. But that would be the cheapest option of the 3

Another option is to download LibreOffice or OpenOffice. Both are free.

I used to buy in and it was about £300 from memory - but you had the disc.

Nowadays there are so many updates I pay monthly for it - it will be the Pro version unless they are all same same nowadays.

I think it costs me about £8 a month but I would have to check.

I'm not keen on this 'software as a service' malarkey where you pay monthly. Everything seems to be going that way. I'm still more than happy with my standalone Office 2010.

Wow, never seen MS Office for £15 (other than some versions for Education). Is it purely for Home (or Student) use?

Entirely depends on what you need to do - nothing compares to Excel in the spreadsheet arena.

For documents your suggestions are of course absolutely fine.
