Citymapper is god. Live updates with delays to lines, gives options for walking, overground only, tube only, bus only, etc... Will give you cost comparison for each option & they've even introduced a 'heat safe' option to avoid long walks & most crowded and hottest routes over the summer (central line has clocked into the 40's in places last few weeks). Superb app.
London Peeps on 19:16 - Aug 5 with 1340 views | OldTimer2 | Station has both overground/District line there. Depends where you are going from. If you are close to Waterloo then would suggest going there and getting overground - plenty of services stop at Wimbledon and district line is a bit iffy a the best of times

London Peeps on 20:03 - Aug 5 with 1286 views | Steve_M | Given the heat then the overground from Waterloo will be by far the better option, it'll be a lot quicker too.

London Peeps on 20:47 - Aug 5 with 1228 views | Colin_Viljoen | Drive to upminster, then it's just 40 stops to Wimbledon!
London Peeps on 00:30 - Aug 6 with 1146 views | Coastalblue | Got to agree with what was said above, went there for lunch today oddly enough. Options are district or overground from Waterloo, District wasn't running today but actually I'd rather take the overground option anyway. There is South Wimbledon too, but that's more Colliers Row really.

London Peeps on 00:51 - Aug 6 with 1137 views | monytowbray | As much District as you can. May take a little longer but it has A/C. I’ve spent most of the last week on the central line which is like travelling in a moving oven.
