The BBC love him, but I don't see his appeal. Some of his reviews are fairly accurate, granted - but I have often noticed his justifications for what makes a film good or bad are things he contradicts in other reviews.

Am I missing something?

That’s the thing with critics - you’ll agree with some, not others. The key is to find the one who tallies with your general taste and use them as a guide.
