Difference in Ownership Ipswich Norwich 23:19 - Jul 25 with 1294 viewsskankerman

I live in Norfolk but a life time supporting ITFC

Our downward spiral over the last few years has been what many have expected a Manager in MM who punched above our weight to keep us in the Championship and a new manager in PL who has taken MM weakness and injected some togetherness and increased passion amongst the support base.

But for a Manager to be successful, the owner also needs to be a worthy contributor, not just financially but leading from the front, sadly a major weakness for our club.

For Norwich they enjoy a dedicated passionate owner and board that will support the club through thick and thin, sadly I can't say the same for our owner, our demise has been on the cards for some time now, I bet PL can see the difference when putting a strategy together to aim for promotion.

A big season beckons for us, , the communication from the board has dried up yet again once season ticket sales have concluded

I hope PL can get the players he clearly wants to move us forward, unfortunately unlike Norwich our owner lacks heart for our club

Did they think the same of their owner when Gunn was their manager in League 1?

Gunn was their manager only for one game in League One.

In David McNally they had had a powerful and ruthless CEO who took the club up from its knees.

Now who did they hire after they sacked Gunn...?

I'm not so sure it's passion, more competency. They've had their bad times too. What they do have is more than one person making the decisions. That may help temper some otherwise poor decisions (but again doesn't always work, as shown by their recent L1 stint).

They've done well with Farke though. Nobody's laughing now about his bad start.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Delia has got dog's abuse over several years from Nodge fans about her unwillingness to sell up or invest money. it's only in the last few months of last season that they think she's suddenly the messiah.

A key difference is though Gunn was in charge and they got mashed by Colchester they were never in any doubt about going back up. Most of us are now accepting that we might finish mid-table under Evans, and there lies the difference. Norwich since our relegation in 2002 have played what 7 or 8 seasons in the top flight, have won the Championship twice, League One once, won the Playoffs and so on. We've not managed more than 5 seasons in the top flight since the mid-90's, close to 35 years ago. It's been an absolute shambles here compared to Norwich even with their stint in League One. We had a big fan base and a legacy to build on. Evans took a situation that Sheepshanks and Bowden actually tamed and turned it into an even bigger disaster.
