At least Fleetwood winning helps us 17:07 - Feb 22 with 883 views | Mullet | We can now put to bed the not beating top six sides and worry about not beating those outside the playoffs for a change. How much grimmer can things really get before it turns nasty? Today is not merely unfortunate when you look at the season as a whole is it? The real question is not how good the squad are, but how well managed have they been. Surely this is the time to put Dobra and Dozzell in. If they don't get us firing, even if they don't get us up they are primed for next season when the best of the squad is picked off for small change.

When do they face criticism? Dreadful last season and yet another incompetent effort this year. Too many of our players are in the comfort zone because blame isn't put at their door. Don't get me wrong, PL has made an absolute car crash of this season, but the players now need to start holding their hands up too instead of hiding. [Post edited 22 Feb 2020 17:38]

Norwood has had loads of abuse, Keane and Jackson too. Chambers and Skuse get it constantly. Nolan now as well, Toto got absolutely hammered etc. To pretend players don't get it, or even questioned simply isn't true. It's been made really obvious that players were beaten down by Hurst and Lambert hasn't had it all his own way behind the scenes either.

So no different than most players this day and age? I suppose I get frustrated when I keep reading it’s everybody else’s fault than the players. The last two campaigns have been utterly dreadful and that’s been pretty much with the same nucleus of players. Perhaps they’ve always been an average L1 squad apart from a couple of promising individuals and it’s all coming home to roost now? [Post edited 22 Feb 2020 19:41]

Evans allowed Hurst to totally dismantle a very good squad, and destroy all bargaining power in the market. Lambert spent big on loans and has assembled his squad now. Without Downes and Woolfenden he'd be on very thin ice if he was still here at all. They are the only two seemingly immune from criticism, I even saw Dozzell getting slated before the game today.

I think both have gone backwards in recent weeks as well. Whether it's the additional pressure or they prefer to play as part of flat banks of four I don't know but they have appeared shakier than previously in possession - particularly Woolfenden.

Woolfenden has had a very shaky month, but that doesn't mean he or Downes should start getting pelters either, quite the opposite. But the fact that Lambert hasn't seemed to improve (m)any players in the whole squad outside of the likes of these two talents is very worrying, and has been bothering me for months.
