I you are furloughed are you still obliged to work? 11:52 - Mar 30 with 999 views | hampstead_blue | Unsure. I work for a charity and our main sources of income are shut down. We've a 20% shortfall in funding for the year. The CEO is talking furlough. If he does that do we still work? Are we paid to do nothing? I'm really unsure.
| Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me.
Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing.
Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial.
Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid.
Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

I you are furloughed are you still obliged to work? on 11:56 - Mar 30 with 964 views | hoppy | If furloughed, you are not allowed to do any work on behalf of your employers. It is a conversation you have with them about it, they can't just make you furloughed without talking to you about it first. If you're on facebook - this group, set up by my accountants has been really helpful in understanding all the different announcements.. may be worth a look? https://www.facebook.com/groups/rszconsultancy/

If you continue to work you jepardise your Charity being able to claim wages back. From the Gov's own website:"You do not need to place all your employees on furlough. However, those employees who you do place on furlough cannot undertake work for you.". [Post edited 30 Mar 2020 12:01]

I you are furloughed are you still obliged to work? on 12:12 - Mar 30 with 878 views | hampstead_blue | Thanks to you both. I'll be sure to look at the FB group. I hope it doesn't happen but as my side isn't dealing with beneficiaries, I run the consultancy piece which gives us a cracking income which has just gone to £0...... I've no idea about the welfare side so am effectively waiting for that moment. Still, 80% for three months isn't the end for us. I'll do something else like day trading.

You can undertake work for another company. 1. If they give their permission (as you contract may state you cannot work for someone else) 2. You could have three part time jobs - get furloughed from 2 but still work for the other 1

Bear in mind that the Gov is running this until May (so it would be 2 months not 3 as you cannot backdate). Likely to be extended by the Gov though. At least by 1 or 2 months but very unlikely to be more.

Hopefully it won't happen. I guess he could furlough us and then re-hire us when the funding stops. That would at least save them a lot of money.

When you are furloughed your contract stays in place - you aren't sacked. You employment contract stays in place. Are you employed by the Charity? If so, you employment simple continues. If you are a consultant (self-employed) then it's a different matter.

Fully employed. Have also just deferred a pay rise to help ease the situation. We are pivoting as to our output and supporting beneficiaries in different ways - online gaming has proven to be very popular. Also we're leaning into the Team Rubicon OP React. Loads to do but it's the funding which the boss is looking for. We do get regular comms and taskings from the Office for Vets Affairs so maybe they can help......who knows.
