Any local plumbers on here? 13:47 - Apr 16 with 1373 views | SitfcB | Local to Ipswich. Want to look at getting an outside tap fitted. Also, washing machine has gone kaput, think it’s the bearings, are plumbers washing machine engineers as well or is that probably a separate person?

Any local plumbers on here? on 16:55 - Apr 16 with 1275 views | strikalite | Not a plumber Sitters and not in Ipswich either but washing machine drums are sealed units now, the days of changing bearings sadly have gone, if it was under warranty they'd change the drum unit, so if it isn't it's a scrap job, not worth buying a new drum unit at £90 plus fitting..
Any local plumbers on here? on 16:57 - Apr 16 with 1272 views | EdwardStone | Plumbers don't usually fix domestic appliances, d a engineers might fit you an outside tap My experience is that you might be better off buying a new machine rather than trying to fix the old one....or check out gumtree etc to see if there is a half decent second hand one going for free I put new bearings in a mate's washer...over the next 3 months pretty much everything else packed up If I lived local I would fit you a tap But I don't Shorry

Agree plumbers don't normally fix domestic appliances. Out side taps are a different proposion. Just be wary there are water regulations you will need to abide by governing outside taps You will need a stopcock and a double check valve . You will also need isolation from the electrical supply via the earth. Basically a plastic fitting between the tap and the exponential earth connection on the main water supply. Hope this helps

My next door neighbour drilled a big hole through the wall to the bathroom, bought a kit for 15 quid and screwed it into the pipe himself. I'm sure your way is more responsible though.

Yes came across one guy who did as you say. Couldn't work out why no water was coming out of the tap. He had fitted using the system you mentioned. When I called round he had connected it the gas supply to his boiler. After explaining the problem he asked if I could connect his BBQ to it and fit a new tap. A bit miffed when I disconnected his gas meter

Well he shouldn't be allowed near anything. My neighbour connected his to the tubular thing directly underneath the sink so felt on pretty safe ground that it contained water. And water came out of the tap too. I've got to say that although I was a bit doubtful myself, the kit really did the job quite well.
