I don't wish to rain on everyone's parade. 11:36 - Sep 3 with 1099 viewsJambo

Do you remember last season when we all believed that PL was about to be sacked ...and he got a 5 year contract.

Cheers for that Marcus.

Contract extension, you reckon?

A brand new 10 year plan too!

No one expected him to be sacked in December, many might have wanted it but there was no expectation. There wasn't much expectation of a five year contract either.

I think that weird post match interview that PL gave made people believe that he was about to walk out but I do not think anyone expected him to be sacked or even wanted him sacked.

Pure conjecture of course, but Lambert appears to have played Evans like a fiddle.

It looks like that back in December.

Conjecture as you say but maybe there was one sticking point in the about to be signed contract and PL's apparent threat to walk out pushed ME into getting it sorted.

Pure conjecture but....

And that contract offer was there because PL was courting Sunderland.

Whilst i don't think fans thought he would be sacked in January - if the fans were told there is a big announcement about the manager coming that day 99% would have thought it would be the sack rather than a new 5 year deal.

He has played him like a fiddle constantly. Spun a web on him at times, should have let him walk when he was sounding out Sunderland, and definitely should have pulled the 5 year deal after performances dropped.

It is depressing that our owner is even more easily fooled than our fans.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
