To be fair, with the Premier League the increase in the number of injuries has been accelerated this year due to the number of matches being played (European and international matches should have been cancelled except for the Euro 2021 Play Offs). In our case, it feels like it has been a reoccurring theme over a number of years.
The thing is, they are commenting on how unusual it is to have this level of injuries and what lies behind it. This season seems no different than a usual one for us so far. In fact, to have seen Bishop and Dozzell get so much pitch time has been especially refreshing. It is the fact we seem to have this level of injuries season after season that has been more of a concern than this season in isolation. However, another mitigating factor is the size of our squad. A squad of 50 ought to be getting twice as many injuries as a squad of 25.
