Technically you must be able to. Players can ‘retire out’.
You would probably cop some kind of unsporting ticking off from the authorities though.... |  | | |

Not in ODI's or International T20's I don't think. Possibly due to a number of reasons including betting irregularity probes, broadcasters getting the hump along with fans who have paid money to see a full number of overs etc. Domestically, I'm not so sure.
Don't think there is anything stopping batsmen from retiring out though. |  |

As the OP says, in the event known weather.
e.g. you need a win. you are 150 for 2 after 15 overs. The satellite says it is 100% going to rain in 45 minutes. If the oppo don’t bat for at least 5 overs the game will be drawn.
