Labour to force a vote on the cladding scandal 09:58 - Feb 1 with 862 viewstractordownsouth

It's mad that in a post-Grenfell world this type of cladding even exists, and in the case that better cladding is put in place, that tenants and home owners have to foot the bill . Hopefully the Tories will see sense and do something about it rather than accuse everyone who votes for this of "playing politics"

Labour leading the debate again Darth ;)

Yes, but look at his haircut and the fact that he sat down near a flag once.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Interesting day for our local MP today then.

He's not a fan of a forced vote by the opposition BUT he's been on local news campaigning this very issue.

Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.

See, you do realise that this stuff is actually important.

I hope Labour keeps it up and also addresses stuff things that aren’t quite as much of an open goal. The more they can show they have conviction and will fight for their beliefs the better. And they can leave the triangulation where it belongs.

He'll fire off a tweet about how not wanting to die in a fire is "woke"

I'm sure we can rely on him to decide that firing a couple of shots in a culture war is the preferable thing to do as opposed to the right thing.

I've never not thought this stuff was important! Glad we're on the same page!

Haha. Righto!

Of course, a cynic would possibly say that Labour is taking a stand on the most obvious issue it can. And largely because of the slump in support from BAME after Labour’s handling of Islamophobia and the anti-BAME issues that are set to be raised by the Forde Inquiry – either in the report or by omission.

So perhaps we’ll need to wait and see if this is an isolated performative act or something more central to their perceived role and responsibility towards the most vulnerable in this country. I truly hope it’s the latter.

I just don’t understand, if I was to go into an electrical shop and buy an appliance then further down the line it was recalled because of safety doubts, the manufacturer would foot the Bill for either repairing or replacing, so how is a house/flat purchase any different? Surely the cladding supplier and/or builders are fully responsible.
