Only to be expected that this followed the rise in cases earlier in the month but sad all the same. Good thing Boris didn't 'ruin' Christmas.

The excess deaths number is a stark reminder to the deniers. Is it with Covid or from Covid? Given an excess 105,000 people have died in the past year vs the prior 5 year average, it's pretty safe to say its largely from.

If I had to pick just ONE flavour of smug t0sser from the ranks of the denialists to punch it would be the 'just because it's on the death certificate' wånkers.

'You could get hit by a bus within 28 days of a positive swab' they say - to my knowldedge, we haven't been overtaken with a wave of psychotic bus drivers in the last year.

Cú*ts.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Also, flu death's/cases are 95% down due to mask's, distancing and hand washing as well, so the five year average is artificially high as well.

There will also have deaths indirectly linked to Covid. People with conditions that have gone undetected which would normally have been picked up.

Have a friend who complained about back pain, each time he contacted his Doctors he was given stronger pain killers. He was adamant it wasn’t muscle strain, as they kept telling him. He collapsed beginning of November. He had a tumour, which was attached to his spine. He collapsed as the tumour had squeezed his spinal cord.

Been in hospital ever since. He now has Covid, but is hanging on to life.

So hope your friend pulls through. This is what worries me with some doctors - just fob you off with pills while never really investigating. A story I know too well.
