Villa Lambert 11:09 - Feb 15 with 879 viewsclive_baker

Interesting to see the similarities between Villa Lambert in his final days there 6 years ago vs. Ipswich Lambert. Feels like such a similar story, creating very little, scoring very little, massively overstaying his welcome before finally getting the shove. I wonder if he talks a good game to his bosses that keeps him in these roles despite the obvious failures?

This was his penultimate game at Villa, their first goal in 7 games, coming from their only shot on target. Chelsea were a strong side to be fair, probably not the worst result for Villa, but their next game was a 2-0 defeat to Hull and it was curtains.

Despite the obvious similarities, he even cuts a more upbeat figure in those Villa days. He looks utterly uninterested here, can't be bothered with the press, can barely string a sentence together. He's completely checked out and our side at the moment seems such an obvious reflection of that.

Big difference is that Villa's ambition was simply to avoid relegation. I would hope that Town have higher ambition than that.

I guess this really is end game territory for him - it is hard to see him getting another club after this. Also see RK, PJ and the Paul Hurst going from bright, young manager to straight back to L2.

He'll get another club after a while rest assured

He'll be off selling "I played for a big club" b0ll0x again within 12 months to some other clueless owner I'm sure

He clearly does talk a good game to his bosses, that's why he can get good long term deals at times he is failing, and sell a vision

The mad thing here is we should be competing for the top 2, but instead are now trying to compete for 6th place and it's not already seen as a failure - that must be where Lambert manages to hoodwink Evans
