Moving on then... team for Pompey? 23:35 - Mar 16 with 880 views | pointofblue | Cornell Matheson - Woolfenden - Chambers - Kenlock Dozzell - Bishop Dobra - Judge - Edwards Parrott Subs: Holy, Ward, Wilson, Huws (ETA - forgot Skuse!), Bennetts, Lankester, Jackson The keeper position is much of a muchness. We need some attacking intent from our full backs. Would be perfectly happy with Woolfenden/Wilson as a centre back partnership too. Midfield was a pain in the backside to pick from, as was left wing and centre forward - and not for good reason. I’d argue we need a change in formation but we also know Cook will stick with 4-2-3-1. Actually thought of an alternative for Sat Cornell - only because he seems to actually dive for the ball Edwards, Toto, Wilson, Kenlock Wolfenden Judge Dobra Bishop Lankester Norwood [Post edited 17 Mar 2021 6:47]

I was going to ask who you’d have there then remembered Skuse; I’d probably have him on the bench ahead of Huws.

Poor skuse, he looked so out of place tonight Even one moment where he couldn't lift his leg as so tired he even fell over on the spot

I do wonder if Cook will give the players from tonight a chance to redeem themselves. I also wondered whether we could try Woolfenden in the Downes role but does that sniff of desperation?

Possibly, but then the 'normal' potential options just aren't doing enough so it's worth a go imo. Wolfy can certainly break play up, get forward with the ball and he's got that ability to send over the diag long ball too. I have been shocked he's not been seen as he seems an ideal Cook player. Cooks never been one for making alot of changes, even when losing, however I think his patience is starting to go with some of the players. Just a thought to, did I read that Wolfy and Thomas etc were in the u23s today? I can't remember seeing them playing for them recently, maybe they are in contention for Saturday [Post edited 17 Mar 2021 0:14]

It feels like he decided to give the players a chance after Gillingham and they bounced back to an extent. Though Sears was removed from the squad completely after that game so I wonder if one or two may follow suit after tonight?

I think Edwards has played his last game for town, and possibly we may see Ward instead of Kenlock.

Think it'll be tough on Kenlock as he's been one of our better performers up to tonight. Edwards has just not looked the same since coming back from injury - he was one of our strongest performers before he picked up that knock.

I wouldn't play him - Edwards he won't be here soon and as you say the moment he's nowhere near good enough, it just becomes a wasted starting place Kenlock, difficult one, for all the good he can do, he still looks ropey as a fullback.

Ward didn’t look much better towards the end of his run in the side to be fair! It’s a difficult one. Edwards has been poor but so have all of the potential replacements; the only one who hasn’t been given a chance is Dobra and I’d be more than happy to see him given a chance.

True R.E ward, that's our biggest problem really in a nutshell, first choice options aren't the best and the alternatives don't really fill you with confidence either. I am surprised we haven't seen much of Dobra even during Lamberts latter stages, unless he's just not showing anything in training etc, from what i've seen and clearly yourself and others is, he's looked a tidy player and one that might actually suit this formation and work requirement
