Why do managers persist with one up front in 4231 or 451 ?
It makes life so easy for their CB and Fb's because we are not close enough to Nors
The ball does not stick and Norwood lives on scraps (did well to be fair) but given support / better service he would score more

The issue isn't so much playing one up front, it's that the players in behind are ineffective. Judge works hard but drops far too deep and offers almost zero threat in the areas where you need a number 10 to be operating. Bennetts can't pass or cross. Ditto Edwards. None of them consistently get close to the centre forward. Plenty of sides, most in fact, play successfully with one central striker but they aren't carrying as many passengers as we are. |  |

Cook has pissed three league titles, had two play-off finishes and had Wigan in automatic promotion form playing 4-2-3-1 week in, week out. It's how he plays, get used to it and start looking at the players that are consistently ineffectual and drop their heads whenever we have a minor setback regardless of the formation. totally agree, I did say that the "support" is not close enough to Nors
He does well on little service and is horrible to play against, but he needs more/ better service
Bennetts drives me nut, woeful end product Edwards plays better on the left and until his injury was flying but seems to have gone backwards
10 minutes of KVY was a small glimmer of hope if he stays fit | |
