Paul Cook might just be regretting coming here 15:58 - Mar 27 with 1577 viewsstevec7

I think he maybe regretting coming to Town. Players struggling to do a week’s training, poor performances and Portsmouth job coming up just after he had come here.

Well he wouldn't have gone back to Portsmouth for starters...

Ready! Steady! Cook!

I know everyone wants a new manager bounce but more important is stability, positivity, building a team and results to follow. This squad has been built over three seasons by Lambert, initiated by Hurst. Things will not happen overnight. He strikes me as kind of bloke who likes a challenge and will get results.

If I were Paul Cook I'd be thinking what a huge & worthwhile challenge I was faced with, and how it would be an even better achievement to turn us, a once great club, around + get us back to something like where we used to be - ie far better than Portsmouth.

Can we quit this pathetic fangirling view that Paul Cook is some super manager from the Premier League who is here to do us a favour?

He is here because we are his level. And so far he's shown very little to suggest he should be managing anywhere higher.

Agree with this. Will certainly have a clear out in the summer. Question is the budget on offer from Evans to bring in replacements.

George Burley hadn't done anything with a club higher than L1 either, before coming to us .

Just saying ...

I would hazard a guess he knew what that was going to be before he signed.

Yeah, but clinging onto one freak exception doesn't change the rule in general. We all hope for better of course, but instead of theoretical fantasising lets objectively look at what our current manager has done to date.

Pep wouldn't be able to do anything with this squad and the general set-up here.

Probably sensible to give Cook a bit of time... like Lambert quite absurdly had.

Pep couldn't get a tune out of this lot. You know that though.

We will also always struggle until a few fundamental structural issues are sorted, such as getting a physical fitness coach in who is actually physically working with the players instead of remotely ... not to mention getting the "sports science dept." functioning at a decent, effective, professional level.

Of course he should be given time.

It doesn't mean we shouldn't constructively criticise what he's done or not done to date.

I also 100% believe Mick would have got a lot more out of this squad than Lambert or Cook has so far.

It's his job to get the team working. They weren't struggling with training before he arrived and according to Evans and O'Neill Lambert's biggest issue was he had higher standards than the club.
