Their long throw ins on 22:17 - Aug 17 with 1196 views | Ely_Blue | It would help if the ones that were 1yard from the corner flag were taken from there rather than 10 yards from the corner flag! I lost count of how many times that happened and the ref allowed it! All on the side without the link too!

Someone jumping up and down while waving their arms in the air could be a distraction ...

You might be right, if it was under digital surveillance by VAR, you might also find a few goal keepers being penalised for handball when kicking the ball out on the very edge of the penalty area. I very much doubt that both feet are in contact with the ground on, or behind, the line at the point of delivery as heels will certainly not be grounded. It is what it is we have to live with it which means knowing how to defend them. We clearly don't.

A very good observation, with which I agree completely - but I think that you intended to post it in the thread "Law 15 of Football - Throw-in rules". I would be interested to hear your insights into why Knudsen's long throw-ins were so relatively ineffective during the McCarthy era ...

one of the biggest bugbears of mine the 'thrower' being allowed to move around 10-15 yards down the touchline before throwing the ball - worse when you consider how finicky the ref is over placing the ball for a free kick, and the placing of the ball for a corner why not give the linesmen one of those white markers the ref has and so mark the spot where the ball went out can be marked | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Sounds like a good idea however did you notice most of those long throws came from the opposite side of the pitch to the Lino last night in both halves. Not sure how you’d make it work when the Lino isn’t on that end of the pitch

I played with a lad at AFC Sudbury who was brilliant at this. He could sneak so many yards that he turned a throw deep into our half into one over the half way line. When the refs said “that will do” he would say “where ref? Here ok?” 2/3 times Whilst still walking

Their long throw ins on 00:45 - Aug 19 with 751 views | BonchosBicycle | Aside from long throw-ins against us - which we always seem to struggle with - I don't understand why we seem to have so little idea to what to do with our own throw-ins. There seems to be no plan, and not a great deal of movement. I remember Liverpool having a throw-in coach or something at one time. It seems a really basic part of the game, yet not really paid attention to unless you're a team with a catapult for a player.
Their long throw ins on 08:50 - Aug 19 with 550 views | Bluebell | Perhaps the answer is to stop kicking the ball out. I was shouting for them to kick it up the pitch. Even out for a corner would have been better. It was obvious from the first time that it would be a problem but we didn’t seem to have the sense to realise what would happen.

You would think instructions would have been given at half time, they clearly were not.
