A team performance.
A deserved win.
I enjoyed that.
Hundred percent record (for McKenna).
Hladky clean sheet.

A few observations. Everyone worked hard and there were some very good performances but we looked organised in a way that we haven't consistently done for years now. Our passing was off at times but we had the right balance of keeping possession and looking to create and play forwards. We did ride our luck a little towards the end and they missed a couple of really good chances but Stockdale made a superb save from Bonne and we always looked like we could score a goal and could easily have gone 2 up. Bonne failing to hit the target when one-on-one is disappointing but he will get back to form. I felt he was offside less tonight than in some previous matches too.

I thought Woolfenden, Penney and Norwood all had very good games. Hladky had a couple of moments but he did what he had to do. We were also cynical in our winding down the time in a way I can't recall seeing from Town before - from the North Stand not returning the ball and then chucking it on the pitch, to Pigott and Chaplin kicking the ball away (at the expense of the fastest booking for a Town player for Pigott). Even the west stand held onto it for a bit.

It was also nice to see Akinfenwa taking the time to sign autographs and allow photos with Town fans before the match. Top bloke. He did not look fit in the warm up but he is strong and we all know what he can do and Woolf dealt with him well once he did come on.

I really hope this is the beginning of things going right. There is a lot to like about what I saw tonight. The best bit, though, is McKenna's praise including "there are still things we need to work on". He will look to improve on that. I like that.

Thank you for that.

Maybe at last we have some decent coaches at this Club and some of our more naturally gifted youngsters can prosper from it . I hope so anyway .

I’m really praying Saturdays game is on now because we need to keep playing games to build up that momentum.

Agree with all this. What impresses me most is that for the first time in years we look like a team that has been properly coached, particularly regarding game management which in the recent past has been utterly dire. Interesting to see CBs playing the ball forward, now they need to work on what to do with the ball after entering the opposition half! But a really big difference in intensity, application, and tactical nous. Very excited...

I'm glad you mention Penney. I only saw the second half but thought he played well, but today I've seen a few comments saying that he's not good enough. I realise he's been inconsistent, who hasn't, but I don't get the negativity today.

Didn’t think he was bad last night but still not as impactful/solid as Burns, who had a relatively quiet game by his standards.

Wycombe targeted our left all night and he stood up well to it defensively. Still a bit tentative though, I think? Plays like he's constantly worried he'll get caught out of position. Edmundson spent a lot of time yelling at him.
