The whole wiping the ball thing is a farce 15:08 - Jan 8 with 669 views | chrismakin | Why are you allowed 20 seconds to wipe it. Yet if you don't want take a long throw in, you get told to hurry up.

Was it..that is crazy. I know it's not the same. But I've always been surprised that it's allowed. In cricket. You can't pick at the ball to help with bowling. So why can you dry a ball to help you gain an advantage in football. As I say appreciate its not a great comparison but hope you see where I'm coming from.

At Colchster - Crawley quite recently, Charlie Daniels (Colchester full-back) picked up the towel the Crawley player was using for his long throws and threw it about five rows into the crowd, who kept it. The linesman clearly saw the incident, but obviously had no idea what the law was so or what he should do, so just pretended he hadn't.

The only rule I know about the towels is that they have to be available to both teams or neither
