Prior to getting sacked in his roles at Defence and Education, Wiilliamson was in the whips office, meaning he would exert pressure on MPs to vote along party lines,

Is well reported that whips will collect dirt on MPs and threaten them with exposing them of they vote against those party lines,

Whether Johnson's personal life has anything he'd like kept quiet I have no idea, but is possible Williamson is being rewarded for his loyalty/silence.
