The problem? 10:22 - Feb 27 with 504 viewsChocorange

Is it creating chances , creating good chances , taking chances , or just bad luck?

I don’t think it’s luck, there has been a pattern for a few games now of creating chances but not scoring many goals , besides we can’t change our luck.

Creating chances we do , but are they good ones? xpected goals for yesterday’s game is below

Also this link below shows chances created per minutes on the pitch

Couple of comments from me , Thompson was our best expected assists yesterday , but so he should be took every corner and you could argue therefore should be much higher . Found him really frustrating yesterday and no better than Vincent Young and even Penney , surely a loanee should only be playing if they are better than what we have in our own players?

Also the stats shows Celina should start every game

I also think Burns and Chaplin are much better finishers than they are creators of chances , so a balance has to be met…should Chaplin be vying with the strikers for a position instead of Celina and Aluko?

So, if the issue is creating good chances , which players should we have on the pitch to give us the max opp to do so?

You're right on Chaplin. He spends too much time outside the box (and probably on the bench too), when he's in the box and the ball drops he's the one you want on the end of it.

Poll: Pick a goal to win the derby in stoppage time...

Chaplin is a really good player, one of the best in this squad with Morsy, Burns and Celina.

I think it's not been ideal he's not had as much pitch time I would have hoped expected but i understand it with the options we have in that area of the pitch. Still i'm slightly surprised he's not been utilised more.

Personally I think Morsy, Burns, Chaplin and Celina should be on the team sheet every week unless unavailable.

However surely there is argument for him to play up top more regularly with one other as the recognised strikers are all out of form.

I think he'd take some of these chances we are creating and with Aluko, Celina and our wing backs we should have enough without him playing the number 10 role.

Poll: Is it now time to sack Paul Cook?

We're creating enough chances to win games, but from the first half against Cheltenham it's probably a psychological thing, isn't it?

Pre-Cheltenham I don't think there's any games we're wildly profligate in. Doncaster maybe?

I think going in 0-0 at half time against Cheltenham, having been totally dominant and just not scored, we collectively started searching too hard for the goal. From then on the team collectively is in its own head about it, not having the required calmness, snatching at things, trying to hit it too hard or trying to be too precise. It's worse for the strikers, particularly the 3 guys who are on a bad run, but it's affecting everyone - even Chaplin's blazed a couple badly into the stands.

Just need everyone to calm themselves, relax a bit and hopefully it'll come.
