Government shambles on energy policy… 08:21 - Apr 7 with 508 viewsunstableblue

It’s an energy supply plan… with no provision for essential and sensible insulation of UK homes at scale; and critically no plan for nuclear waste storage!

Countries like Finland who have just opened (very late and over budget) a plant similar to Hinckley are close to opening their deep storage mine.

Sellafield is a toxic mess and shameful lack of foresight, and that’s where the waste will ‘temporarily’ go.. a site that is costing £132bn to ‘clean’

£2k per head! People

Sizewell C as good as approved

Especially when a fraction of the cost invested in home insulation, would save enough energy that the nuclear stations wouldn't be needed. Oh, and save the public a fortune in heating bills.

You missed the ‘s’ off governments.

The reason is simple. Nobody wants a wind farm or toasty warm nuclear reactor in their front garden. And whilst it’s easy to talk about power stations it’s not quite so easy to build them in a small island full of nimbies.

I don’t recall too many enthusiastic meetings in support of Sizewall C for example - despite there being two there already and some nice warm water sea fishing readily available.

Government shambles on everything really. One exception - filling their boots with dodgy money from Russians, dodgy contracts on Covid, China stuff, expenses you name it. If there’s an envelope in it for them, they’ll be interested regardless of who pays and whether it’s right and wrong.

It’s the most corrupt bunch in my lifetime and you’ve probable got to go back to the pre 1832 Great Reform Bill to find a mob that even competes.

Daft fact of the day: Oxtail soup was invented by the Huguenots in London in the late 17th century.
