I've been watching with interest Serbia and how much they ''big up' Putin and Russia currently as they are looking at 2025 to be welcomed into the arms of the EU .. negotiations started in 2012 .. hmmm.
Hungary, Serbia are pro Putin. For me it’s time for countries to decide where their loyalties lie. I think NATO is weaker with Hungary than without it anD I’d turf them out. If Putin invaded, why should the other NATO countries defend them and lose a single non-Hungarian life? It’s a weakness Putin could easily exploit.
Turkey is a strange one. Strategically, it’s very important and culturally it’s very diverse. It’s supplied Ukraine with some great kit and while I’ve no time for their dictator he has to be accommodated.
Hungary's economy is not all that strong and they are very dependent upon Russian gas imports. Plus the EU is antagonistic to Orban's nationalistic and authoritarian inclinations - tho he can't afford to ditch them, either.
So he just causes trouble and seeks what concessions he can screw out of anybody.

That would potentially create a corridor coming from the east deep into southern central Europe, negating the Carpathian barrier and cutting off land routes from north to south into the Balkans (inc. NATO members Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey).

Just checked the map. Yep, you are right and that does create a bit of a problem.
