I hope that we didn't spend the leftover budget on this. I'm sure he's a great player who is far too good for this level, but as others have said, it's super indulgent to spend that much on a LB in this league, especially when you could argue we still need at least 1 number 10 and a striker, who are usually expensive purchases. |  |

Full back/wing back is such a key position in the modern game though! Liverpool's entire game is run through Robertson and Alexander-Arnold, our best player last season was our right wing back.
If we've got a left wing back who's too good for this level that's absolutely huge. |  |

Yeah, if we were playing with wingers then it wouldn’t be such a priority but it is a key position for us. Too many times last year our LB got into a great position to hurt teams and it nearly always fizzled out into nothing. Could be a pivotal signing so I don’t mind spending a good fee at all. | | | |
