Shrewsbury away in a couple weeks 20:31 - Aug 7 with 1039 viewsThe_Romford_Blue

Trains not looking great for it but should be one or two across the day to make it doable. Never been before but can anyone convince me why it’s not a great idea to go?

For some weird reason.. I quite fancy it

Hmm.. trains will be a nightmare, with absolutely no guarantee you'll get back afterwards. But. Shrewsbury is a good town for beers, historic, characterful, and some super pubs and bars.

Warning to anyone trying to avoid the train strike by travelling Friday - there is a London underground/ TFL rail strike, so crossing London will be a pain. There is the Stansted to Birmingham route, on tiny trains that tend to be very full and 'orrible...

Think the definite timetable will be out only a few days before but surely worth a go

Just need match ticket info…

My other slight worry is so far literally every person I’ve asked has said they don’t fancy it. And I don’t particularly fancy drinking alone. Not an ideal start to my Shropshire plan

Agree about the town of Shrewsbury, well worth a visit in my opinion.

Although as the strike is an RMT one, Shrewsbury wasn't served by any services on the previous RMT strike days.

Hi Rommers, there will be no trains in that line that day, a pain for me as Ive a wedding on the Thurs in Carlisle and a Darts match on the Friday, was hoping to travel back to the Midlands on the Sat and pop over... I'm doing Burton instead...
