Sup TWTD, long time if fairly irregular poster here, so I know there's a few living in the States on here. For this year of my degree I'm doing an exchange at Oklahoma University. Fly out on Sunday and I'm obvs very excited, even if I'll miss practically the entirety of Ipswich's glorious 22/23 title campaign. I reckon I've got a pretty good handle on what to expect, but was curious for any advice/warnings on stuff that they typically don't tell you about.

Where to begin?! Sounds like a great year except for missing the footy so get yourself sorted with IFollow. $180 for the season. Don’t know OK at all so don’t have anything specific to offer. But get yourself to a college football game, it’s quite the event. Enjoy!

Tbf I was at a total of 5 Town games last year so not a whole lot of change in that regard. Yeah as someone who both plays American football and in a brass band, the spectacle of college football and the pageantry that goes with it looks pretty remarkable. I'm trying to schedule a Cowboys game in as well.

Not going to lie it’s annoying setting things up without US backed credit, at least it was 10 years ago. Depending on how long you plan to stay get a credit card where you put $500 or whatever you can afford down as a deposit to start building credit. You can open a US bank account without a SSN, would advise doing that early as well.
It’s more expensive than England for thing such as phone/internet and TV. Although you can get around some of that if on a budget. Are you on an F1? Don’t think you can work on those when studying but I never studied here. Feel free to PM me if you need any advice on how to set stuff up. Enjoy OU, it’s a party school, so just be as English as possible!
