I'm not sure I follow the statistics completely but the conclusions are pretty stark.

Definitely looks like massive tax cuts are a good idea.

This has been coming for some time. Covid has probably accelerated it, but it's been coming. And yes, the amount of people REALLY sick with various cardiovascular conditions reflects my experience on the ground.

I can't recall so many people really ill with complications arising from clotting. Four years ago, I might see someone once or twice a year requiring clot-busting for a pulmonary embolism. I've seen three this month.

We've been looking at a four-month, month-on-month increase in cardiac arrest calls at [redacted]. That's partly down to education(we encourage ward staff to put calls out early to get senior support BEFORE a loss of cardiac output) but a lot of it is down to high levels of patient acuity.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Massively outdated IT systems definitely rings a bell. Bonus points that half of them don't talk to each other because there was no requirement for them to do so.

Another desperate thing for the new PM to look into who instead will probably be focussing on corporation tax, culture war issues and just how many people we could stuff on a plane to Rwanda.

I work for a trust that is considered to be a 'flagship' trust for using IT. An awful lot of what we use is clunky, slow and massively unintuitive.

I am genuinely terrified as to what other place's systems might look like.

And, yes, any government focus o the NHS will definitely be 'culture war' based, if the Mail header from a few days bank is anything to go by:

Woke groups? You’re doing it all wrong. Don’t keep them awake, it’d be better to sedate patients to keep them out of trouble.

It’s hard to escape the conclusion that the NHS is a bit fecked. When data show waiting times, ambulance response times, staff shortages and access to GPs are all as bad as ever, and when anecdotal stories from patients and staff point to things being bad, it suggests things are bad.

But then there’s this:

Having gone through that thread and the article now, that looks like a pretty comprehensive bit of work. I’d like to see it sense checked, but as a piece of journalism it’s pretty impressive. We’d be a far more informed popoulation if we had more of this in our media and less jingoistic, propaganda click bait.

Paints an unsurprising picture given some of the horror stories we hear of.
