Similar age to me & some of my contemporaries either knew him or played rugby against him. By all accounts Butler was a very nice man as well as an excellent rugby player & broadcaster. |  |

Funny that, because my father in law always said he seemed unable to hide his excitement about England. Not the first time I’ve heard that over here either. It must be the Welsh equivalent of our split over Brenner Woolley.

That's a shame I loved his pieces before a big sporting event,not sure if he wrote them too but really set the mood along with some stirring music.
