Frightening.

Not least because these people seem to find their way into office BECAUSE they’re groomed by lobbyists and donors, not in spite of it.

Indeed.

I'd put good money on neither Truss nor Kwarteng having written a word of Brittania Unchained.

They were recruited like good old-fashioned Cambridge spies.

The BBC's failure to call out the IEA etc against their own impartiality guidelines is a criminal act of negligence. Conspiring to present extreme right wing lobbyists as "independent think tank" experts.

Thought provoking, and resonates. Right now any party who builds their policy around community, welfare, health and sustainability, gets my vote. Never been a major advocate for nationalised services, but never has the need for it in key areas been more obvious.

PS when an energy company holds in excess of £500 credit for all bar 3 months of the year, why don’t they pay me interest for this, at the same rate we pay for loans? Much the same as saving accounts where rates stay low, and petrol prices remain high, when the cost per barrel drops.

It's funny how the influence of these lobby groups dressed up as think tanks is getting attention now despite the sh*tshow of *cough* Brexit *cough*. Did someone mention the B word?

I suppose all that tells us is that not many people were impacted adversely by Brexit. But it's harder to ignore widespread impacts on household budgets even if Brexit is the larger negative overall.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

My feelings too.

(I used to get 3% on my balance with Ovo, back when high street rates were less than 2%. It was my main savings account for a few years! I'm only going back a couple of years but I suspect that's all changed now).

Brexit is very much a part of the market's reaction to Truss and Kwarteng.

Even if you believed in the "borrow to slash taxes and wait for the GDP growth" nonsense you've then got to explain why you supported cutting yourself off from the world's biggest single market and customs union.

Kindergarten economics from the IEA government.

Agreed.

The companion-piece thread and article are vital reading too.

The BBC’s top-level coverage of UK politics and even the socio-economic issues affecting the country is frankly pretty awful for a national broadcaster and public service. In reality, it’s more of a public disservice to prop up the “State” and “Vested interests” in their most nebulous and undemocratic form.

Yes, but the Labour Party takes money from Trades Unions who are funded directly by Moscow.
