Problem is she doesn't pay the fuel bill as she lives with me in a granny annex.
She informs me that actually it's a pensioners cost of living allowance but I have caught sight of it and it plainly says Winter Fuel Payment.
She doesn't think she should give it to me even though I pay the fuel bill. She now informs me that when my dad was alive they used to get £100 each but she didn't give her side to my dad as he would only spend it down the pub - even though my dad paid all the bills.
This isn't a moan, it's just me thinking how crazy some people are and how they have no sense.
I really don't care about the money but it's a mind blower, if she offered it I'd give it back. Mother is a very generous old bat and if I or my kids asked her for a few grand she would do it immediately - but she won't buy Birds Eye peas because they are too expensive - and in my opinion this item is one of those items that you cannot accept an "Own Brand"
She once bought a new laptop for herself and gave her old laptop to my dad as a Christmas present - she's fecking crazy.

Sounds typical of someone of that age from my experience.
On a side note, when I worked on a foreign exchange desk I would always find it odd how often an old lady came storming into the shop and then stood to attention as the man slowly marched in full of self importance brandishing a crisp looking debit card which was clearly on its first outing in several years. |  |
