Most have noticed that Plymouth have scored many goals outside the box (2 against us). We need to attempt more. It is no good blasting one as hard as you can in row z. All you need to do is get 3 or 4 early doors that are dollied up to make the keeper work. This would immediately bring defenders out quicker and open up space for us. At the moment defenders just sit off and wait for us to mess it up.
With all the good play and pressure yesterday 4 sot. Poor.

Have to agree, we have not scored to many goals from long range. Always seem to want to pass the ball in the net. Perhaps McKenna has drilled into the team you must pass wide.

We've scored 10 from outside the 18 yard box so far this season out of 35. 8 from open play and 2 from set pieces. When they're packing the box with 11 players the chances of scoring from outside the box aren't particularly high

I think the idea is we try and get in more early strikes before the box gets filled up. It's also difficult trying to cross the ball from the bye-line with a packed box. Usually crosses get cut out. Could we be a little bit more direct in our approach play before the oppo can get more men back? I do think we can improve on our shooting from outside the box.

Maybe but if we don’t shoot then we’ll get no deflections! Too many times possessions just outside the box result in nothing and too many intricate passing is easy for defenders to deal with. Plus if players like Chaplin and Harness don’t take the ball into the box we’ll never get any penalties. Passing around in our own half gets us nowhere!

Not so much yesterday because Cheltenham were so rarely in our half but I do think at times we seem to give the opposition time to get in position before we start to move forward.

We’ve scored 10 form outside the box, the highest in the league. Plymouth have scored 8. Only Posh and Oxford have attempted more shots from outside the area than us.
Perhaps yesterday we could of incorporated shooting out side the box as plan B or even resort to long play but it doesn’t seem to be allowed with our managers tactics which is also hindered by our lack of big men up top.

I think we're over-analysing it. Everything up to the woeful finishing, and the misfortune with the woodwork was just about perfect (apart from the goal conceded). That's all it was.
