Why was their number 3 allowed to take an eternity to leave the pitch… 09:37 - Nov 13 with 1018 viewsITFC_Forever

… by walking all the way across it, and not in the corner where he’d spent much of the previous 20 minutes sitting down?

The timewasting that goes on in the modern game is an embarrassment, and booking their ‘keeper in the first half did nothing. There was no way the red was going to issue a second yellow for the same thing.

Because he otherwise would have had to walk the entirety of the north stand so ref allowed him off the pitch the long way.

Embarrassing, yes. But it's all part of football and we shouldn't begrudge Cheltenham for executing a game plan whilst we try to miss from everyone spot on the pitch.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

So walk the other way past Churchmans if he’s so scared of the big bad North Stand calling him names.

I heard recently that the player must leave the pitch at the nearest point unless the player’s safety is in danger. Don’t know if that’s true, or if the ref would have deemed it unsafe for him to walk past the North stand, but by my watch his antics (twice receiving ‘treatment’) took five and a half minutes.

Thought the ref was pretty good on the whole but, given the early booking for the keeper, he was quite lax on the gamesmanship in the second half.

The 3 should have been booked for that revenge lunge at Burns, totally reckless. There were a few other challenges that were given but not cards.

In fairness the keeper was not really time wasting in the second half, not like we would have seen had he not been booked. That proved that it works to book them early, but yes like you say i'd be surprised if he sent him off for it, even if he did make it obvious.

That is true, there is a guidance of that nature.

But if walking past the North Stand is that dangerous, he can still go the other way past Churchmans. It may be longer, but he’s in no rush, as we saw all afternoon.

Is this a new rule? You have go off at the nearest point as long as your journey doesn't involve walking past opposing fans? Ridiculous.

They were good at wasting time. We were even better at wasting chances. The latter needs admitting, focussing on, and fixing.
