How the hell did he not only get the job managing the best international team of their generation, but then keep it despite failure in a World Cup and a European Championship?.

Belgium are a notoriously difficult side to manage courtesy of the different regions / languages etc which will definitely cause a bit of tension in the squad. That being said, with the talent they've had at their disposal this a really poor return from them.

It seems he may have been undermined by a few of his players but some of his selections this time round were odd it has to be said. His contract was up so did the right thing announcing be was leaving today.

Certainly is this tournament im not surprised they’ve gone out early. Average age of the team is 31, players like Hazard who’ve hardly played for 2 or so years, Lukaku has been injured and needs 6 or 7 games to get in a rhythm. No energy in the team, no matter what tactics Martinez put out that team wasn’t going to go far.

Roberto MartÃnez on 19:52 - Dec 1 with 625 views | tractordownsouth | Don’t think World Cup 2018 was a failure for them. They were comfortably the 2nd best team in the tournament, they only didn’t make the final because they were in the same half of the draw as the best team, France. The last Euros and this World Cup were a failure for them though.
