That's where we miss out on having Burns as the wing back. There have been a few times now Donacien has had space in front of him to get around the outside of the full back, but he's not even looking for it. Always cutting back and taking the easy option to lay it back.

He's also a few times been straight onto goal 25-30 yards out.. just hit it. As Fleetwood should you never know what can happen.

Aluko for Harness or Chaplin on 09:54 - Dec 30 with 929 views | mrfixit426 | Probably an unpopular opinion, but I don't think Aluko is it. He often holds on to the ball for too long, and when we're attacking can take one or two unnecessary touches before releasing, leading to blocks and turnovers. He slows the play too much, and also tends to drop very deep. Also his stats for a number ten are very poor. There's often no end product. However, he's a great player to bring on to close a game out, as he can retain possession to take the pressure off, but when we're chasing a game he just doesn't seem to be very effective.

But what Aluko does which Harness and Chaplin failed to do all night was drop into the clear spaces being left by pompy to enable the 3 way interplay on the channels with the likes of Edwards. Donacien and Aluko. All through the game the little pockets of space were there but no one was going into them to receive the ball. Westlake mentioned them a little while back in a game where Aluko dropped into the space.. played it to Edwards I think it was at the time and a goal came from it. It was so obvious. Chaplin I still believe is better as a striker not as a 10 and I'm still not sure what Harness is.

Yeah you've made some good points there. Harness is an enigma for me. Unplayable on Boxing Day, anonymous last night. I understand that Oxford laid it on a plate, and yesterday he maybe wasn't 100%, but it's been a recurring theme throughout the season. Overall though, it's so good to be able to discuss finer points like this rather than wallowing in the misery of previous seasons. Good times! [Post edited 30 Dec 2022 10:58]

Nailed it. His close control and retention of the ball are excellent but far more suited to seeing a game out than to chasing it. Not a starter for me, but a very useful player to bring on in the appropriate circumstances.
