Looking at the reporting on it, and the times of the articles, it appears that the FA released the news/story late last evening.
It's almost as if they wanted to try and sneak it past the press by releasing it after business hours. |  |

I read the headline and assumed that it was going to be a case of him having used outdated language, and claiming that he didn't realise it wasn't acceptable any more.
